Córrego dos Gripp Alto Jequitibá city Arara Amarelo coffee
HISTORY
In the past, the entire Córrego dos Gripp was owned by the father of Joacir’s wife, known as Professora Silvinha in the region. However, over time, parts of these lands were sold to new owners. Currently, Joacir and Silvinha have a portion of the property, which has become the farm from which they make their living today. About 4 years ago, Joacir decided to research coffee and its varieties in more detail. Thus, after watching several documentaries about the Arara variety, Joacir says in his own words that “he was enchanted by the quality of the coffee from the first moment, and then decided that he would plant it on his farm”. So, he went in search of his dream of cultivating the Arara variety and, with the help of 3 agronomists, he achieved the seeds he dreamed of. The difficulty was due to the fact that, at that time, this variety was not well known in the region. Joacir and his wife then planted the Arara coffee and had such a good harvest that it enchanted everyone in the region. Several people came to them to learn more about that precious variety, and from then on, their production only grew and their work began to be increasingly recognized.

CURIOSITIES
Joacir believes that what sets his coffee apart is, in addition to the good acceptance of the land, the care he and his wife take with their production. Their harvest is estimated at 100 bags annually, which makes their coffee a rare jewel.
Arara coffee is highly resistant to several coffee plant diseases, which reduces the introduction of agrochemicals to the crop and makes this variety a great option for organic cultivation.
